Women’s Basketball Leaps Three Spots to Claim the No. 4 Position in the D2SIDA Southeast Region Poll

DURANGO, COLO. – The Anderson University women's basketball team leaped three spots in the Southeast Region Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, announced by the regional committee late Monday.

Anderson is one of five teams represented in the poll this week from the South Atlantic Conference. Carson-Newman made the largest jump in the rankings going from tied for the 10th spot to taking over the top slot. Wingate moved up two positions to the second slot, while Tusculum makes an appearance in the eighth position after not being ranked in the preseason poll. SAC regular season champion Lincoln Memorial slid down to the seventh spot after beginning the season 2-2.

Lander and Limestone still claimed the third and fifth positions, respectively. Columbus State, which eliminated Anderson from the postseason dropped from the top-spot to the sixth slot while Francis Marion moved up to the seventh position. North Georgia slipped one notch to round out the top 10.

The Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, is in its fourth year of existence. The regional poll will be released every Monday, followed by the national poll every Tuesday. Each region has six representatives that comprise the regional poll. The national poll has 16 voters - 2 from each region.

Anderson continues its five-game road swing when it plays on Friday, Nov. 24 against Minnesota State University Moorhead at the Tampa Classic. Tip-off is slated for 11 a.m.
