Women's Basketball Seeded 8th in Southeast Region

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Trojans have been seeded eighth in the NCAA's Southeast Region and will face top-seed and host Lander on Friday in Greenwood, S.C. as announced by the NCAA selection Committee Sunday night.

Friday's contest will mark the seventh consecutive appearance by Anderson in the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship, and the Trojans will square off against the host Lady Bearcats, who posted a 25-3 record this season. Lander entered the Peach Belt Conference Tournament looking for its third straight tourney title but was upset by Clayton State in the semifinals after winning a school-record 25 games this season.

Anderson (20-10) earned its way into the tourney by virtue of winning its last five contests and 10 of its last 11, including the Conference Carolinas tournament title. The Trojans are led by all-conference selection Alexa Neal's 11.9 points per game average, while forward Ashley Abed pulls down an average of five rebounds a contest.

The winner of Friday's contest will advance to meet the winner of the No. 4 seed Lenoir-Rhyne /No. 5 seed Carson-Newman contest on Saturday, with regional final action taking place on Monday, March 15.
