AU Erupts In Second Half To Beat WVS

INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- The Anderson University women's basketball team opened the second half with a 26-9 run and went on to post a 65-49 victory over West Virginia State in the Red Roof Classic Saturday afternoon. Anderson, 3-1 overall, has held three consecutive opponents under 50 points. Senior Deidra Langston led Anderson with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Langston recorded two double-doubles in the two-day event. Anderson shot just 25 percent from the field in the first half but led 27-26 at the break. But in the second half, Anderson shot 54 percent and pulled away for its third straight victory. Keana Boyd added 12 points and seven assists for the Lady Trojans. Anderson also had a major advantage at the free throw line. The Lady Trojans made 21 of 25 from the line, while the Yellow Jackets made 11 of 15. Anderson won the boards, 43-34. Seventeen of Anderson's rebounds came off the offensive glass. Anderson's next action is Thursday at CVAC foe Limestone.
