Trojans Split Road Contests with Lincoln Memorial

Harrogate, Tenn.- Anderson University softball saw its four game win streak come to an end with South Atlantic Conference opponent Lincoln Memorial winning game one, 6-3, with the Trojans bouncing back to take game two, 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Neely Field.

With the spilt, Anderson moves to 28-18 overall and 10-8 in conference action while the Railsplitters move to 32-12 overall and 10-8 in SAC play.

Anderson scored a run in the second inning, holding onto the 1-0 lead until a six-run fifth inning by the Railsplitters. The Trojans chipped away with a run in the sixth and seventh, but ran out of outs to complete the comeback.

Senior Joshlyn Martin and freshman Kayson Boatner each went 2-for-3 in game one.

Sophomore Harlie Duncan (15-7) was tagged with the loss after 4.2 innings of work. Duncan gave up nine hits and six earned runs before being lifted in favor of Boatner. Boatner gave up no hits while walking three batters in 1.1 innings pitched.

The Trojans two runs in the first and sixth inning on Boatner's 13th homerun of the season and senior Bre Hagerty's two-run long ball.

Freshmen Morgan Charter and Gracie Williams each went 1-for-2 with Charter ripping a double and scoring a run for the Black and Gold.

Sophomore Kayla Pepper (13-11) pitched a three-hitter giving up just one earned run while striking out seven.

Anderson remains on the road to finish up regular season South Atlantic Conference play when it travels to Coker on Saturday. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 2 pm.
