ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson University softball sweep the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Softball Players of the Week honors for games played during March 4 through March 10. Catcher Mattie Hamilton was named Player of the Week, while sophomore Kayla Pepper earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
Hamilton helped the Trojans go 4-0 on the week, sweeping Southern Wesleyan and Johnson C. Smith. The Perry, Ga. native batted .500 with an on-base percentage of .583 and a slugging percentage of 1.400. Hamilton finished with five hits (a double, a triple, and two homeruns) while driving in eight runners. This is Hamilton's first Player of the Week honor of the season.
Pepper finished the week with a spotless 0.00 earned run average in her two complete-game wins, shutting out both Southern Wesleyan (9-0) and Johnson C. Smith (8-0). In 10 innings of action, the Anderson, S.C. native allowed only four hits and one walk while striking out 15. This is Pepper's first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
