Softball Sweeps Southern Wesleyan

Anderson, S.C.- Anderson University softball swept nonconference opponent Southern Wesleyan winning game one, 9-0 (5), while taking game two, 6-3, on Wednesday evening at the AU Softball Complex

Anderson moves to 14-6 overall while the Warriors fall to 7-9 overall.

Game 1- Anderson 9         Southern Wesleyan 0 (5) 

Anderson broke open a scoreless tie with a five run third inning. The Trojans added four run in the fourth inning and held the Warriors scoreless to end the game in five innings.

Sophomore Kayla Pepper (6-4) got the nod in game one winning her sixth game of the season. Pepper gave up just two hits while striking out seven.

Game Two- Anderson 6      Southern Wesleyan 3

Southern Wesleyan scored two runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at 3 apiece. The Black and Gold responded with three runs of their own to reclaim the three-run lead. AU shutout the Warriors in their final at-bat to set the final score at 6-3.

Sophomore Harlie Duncan (8-2) gave up five hits while striking out 11 on her way to her eighth win of the season.

Anderson will remain at home to host nonconference opponent Johnson C. Smith on Friday. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for noon.
