ANDERSON, S.C.- The Anderson University softball team swept nonconference opponent Lees-McRae winning game 1, 6-1, while defeating the Bobcats in the nightcap, 11-3 (5 innings), on Sunday afternoon at the AU Softball Complex.
With the sweep, Anderson moves to 7-3 overall while Lees-McRae falls to 0-2.
Game 1- Anderson 6 Lees-McRae
The Trojans capitalized on a six-run third inning to distance themselves from the Bobcats. Lees-McRae scored a lone run in the top of the third before the Black and Gold got hot with the bats in the bottom half of the inning.
Notables
Freshman Josie NesSmith batted 2-for-3 with a single and triple while freshman Kayson Boatner went 1-for-2 with an RBI and run scored. Senior Breanna Hagerty stole the show drilling a grandslam homerun collecting four RBI on the game.
Sophomore Harlie Duncan (4-1) won her fourth game of the season. Duncan gave up five hits while striking out seven.

-The Bobcats outhit the Trojans 6-5.
-All runs were scored in the third inning, six for AU and one for LMC.
- Anderson left six runners on base while the Bobcats left five stranded.
Game Two- Anderson 11 Lees-McRae 3 (5 innings)
After falling behind 1-0 after the first inning, the Trojans outscored Lees-McRae, 11-2, over the next four innings of play.
Notables
NesSmith and Boatner each went 2-for-3 while freshman Gracie Williams batted 1-for-1 scoring three runs. Junior Meghan Majeski batted 2-for-4
driving in three RBI with freshman Morgan Charter and freshman Sydney Belcher each picking up a hit in two at-bats.
Sophomore Kayla Pepper (3-2) pitched a solid game giving up five hits while striking out 10.
