Softball Sweeps North Greenville to Open Home Slate

ANDERSON, S.C.- Anderson University softball used stellar pitching paired with timely hitting to win two games over nonconference opponent North Greenville, 2-0 and 3-0, on Wednesday evening at the AU Softball Complex.

With the sweep Anderson moves to 4-2 overall while the Crusaders fall to 1-3 on the season.

Game 1- Anderson 2   North Greenville 0

The Trojans scored a lone run in the bottom of the third and the bottom of the fifth to put away the Crusaders in game 1

Notables

Junior Meghan Majeski batted 1-for-3 with a single and an RBI while freshmen Kayson Boatner and Josie NesSmith and senior Breanna Hagerty each went 1-for-2 with NesSmith scoring a run.

Sophomore Harlie Duncan (2-1) pitched a complete game one-hit shutout striking out six batters.

-The Trojans outhit North Greenville 4-1.

- No Crusader runner advanced past first base.

- Anderson left five runners on base while North Greenville left three.

Anderson broke the 0-0 tie in the bottom of the fifth inning on the RBI single by freshman Sydney Belcher. Anderson scored two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on five soft singles.

Notables

Majeski and Boatner went 3-for-3 with Boatner recording a double down the leftfield line.

Sophomore Kayla Pepper (2-1) pitched a three-hit shutout walking no batters while striking out five.

Key Stats

-The Trojans left 13 runners on base.

-Five of the 11 hits came in the Black and Gold's final at-bat.

-Only two North Greenville runners reach second or beyond.
