St. Augustine, Fla.- Anderson University softball dropped a pair of nonconference contest falling to Georgia Southwestern, 12-8, in the season opener while dropping a 3-1 decision to Flagler on Saturday afternoon at the Flagler Classic.
Game 1- Ga. Southwestern 12 Anderson 8
The Trojans fell behind early, 7-0, before Anderson answered back with a five-run third inning. Ga. Southwestern scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to hold a 9-5 lead.
Both the Black and Gold and Ga. Southwestern would add three runs each to their side setting the final score at 12-8.
Freshmen Morgan Charter (2-2), Kayson Boatner (3-4), Sydney Belcher (3-4), Gracie Williams (1-2) and Josie NesSmith (1-4) collected multiple hits each going 10-for-16 as a group. Boatner hit her first career homerun as a Trojan, a two-run blast in the sixth inning.
Sophmore Abigail Webb went 1-for-1 with a single to left while junior Megan Majeski went 2-of-5 in the leadoff spot.
Sophmore Harlie Duncan was tagged with the loss after 2.1 innings of work while giving up nine runs on four hits. Boatner pitched 3.2 innings in relief giving up seven hits and three runs.

- Anderson committed four errors.

Game Two- Flagler 3 Anderson 1
Anderson's lone run came in the third inning with Flagler scoring in the bottom half of the third and adding two insurance runs in the fourth inning.
Senior Joshlyn Martin went 4-for-4 with three singles and a triple. NesSmith batted 2-for-4 with a double while Majeski, Boatner and seniors Breanna Hagerty and Kasey Grant each collected one hit apiece for the Trojans.
Sophomore Kayla Pepper pitched a complete game giving up five hits and three runs while striking out five.
-The Trojans stranded 11 runners.
Anderson will continue play in the Flagler Classic squaring off with Flagler at 11 am and then finishing off the weekend again Lynn at 4 pm.
