LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Anderson University softball senior standout Cailah Niles has been named to the NFCA DII All-Southeast Region First Team, released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Wednesday.
Niles ranked first in the South Atlantic Conference in home runs (16) and tied for second with 55 RBI. The senior slugger batted .364 with a .768 slugging percentage ripping 11 doubles and one triple while drawing a team-high 27 walks. Niles earned All-SAC Second Team accolades and SAC All-Tournament Team honors.
The Phenix City, Ala. native started all 48 games behind the plate this past season pushing her consecutive start total to 203 games. Niles has hit a career total of 63 home runs breaking both the Anderson all-time career record (47) and the SAC all-time career record (47) which was previously held by 2014 AU graduate Abby Child.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2018 NFCA Division II All-America squads.
