Trojans to Celebrate Seniors on Saturday and Look to Lay Claim to Second Place in the South Atlantic Conference Standings

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson University softball team will look to lay claim to second place in the South Atlantic Conference standing when it host SAC foe Newberry on Saturday at the AU Softball Complex for the final regular season game.

SERIES HISTORY

Overall Record – Anderson leads the overall series 22-15 with the Trojans sweeping last year's doubleheader at Newberry.

ANDERSON TROJANS OVERVIEW

- Anderson earned a No. 8 NCAA Regional Ranking on Wednesday.

- Senior Cailah Niles lead the SAC in RBI (52) and home runs (14) while sophomore Meghan Majeski is tied for first in stolen bases (23). Freshman Kayla Pepper is ranked second in the SAC with an ERA of 1.58.

- Anderson head coach Tommy Hewitt is in his 13th year.

- The Black and Gold are 23-3 on their home turf.

- Anderson will be honoring its five seniors, Niles, Rachael Barefiled, Trudi Shuman, Randee Bettis and Allison Oxner.

NEWBERRY WOLVES OVERVIEW

- The Wolves have lost their last 4-of-6 games.

- Newberry is coached by fifth year head coach Ciria Triplett.

- Sophomore Haley Simonds ranks second in the SAC in RBI (51) while claiming the fifth spot in the SAC in batting average (.408).
