ANDERSON, S.C. With the start of conference play right around the corner, the Anderson University softball used 25 hits and totaled 24 runs on the day to defeat nonconference opponent Winston-Salem State in game one, 14-4 (5 innings), and game two, 10-1(5 innings), on Wednesday afternoon at the AU Softball Complex.

INSIDE THE BOX

Junior Joshlyn Martin batted 3-for-3 with a double, home run, three runs scored and three RBI. Sophomore Mattie Hamilton went 2-for-2 with two runs scored while freshman Mackenzie Haver batted 1-for-1 with a three RBI double.

Anderson's Harlie Duncan (7-1) had the run support to pick up her seventh win of the season. Duncan gave up six hits and four runs in three innings of work before being replaced in favor of senior Randee Bettis. Bettis gave up just one hit while striking out four in two innings in the circle.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Martin continued to stay red hot batting 3-for-3 with three singles. Senior Cailah Niles batted 2-for-2 with two home runs and four RBI. Junior Michaela Smith and freshman Khloe Saunders were each 1-for-1 with a single apiece.

Freshman Kayla Pepper (5-3) got the nod in game two for the Trojans pitching 5.0 innings, giving up just two hits while striking out nine batters.

On the Day, the Trojans hit six home runs, five doubles and one triple.
