Trojans Take Two from Clark Atlanta

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University softball team used 21 hits to score 27 total runs in a nonconference doubleheader against SIAC opponent Clark Atlanta winning game one, 14-1 (5 innings), and winning game two, 13-5 (5 innings), Saturday afternoon at the AU Softball Complex.

With the victories, Anderson improves to 16-4 overall while Clark Atlanta drops to 4-10 overall.

GAME #1

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Leading the way at the plate, junior Cailah Niles went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and eight RBI. Senior Courtney Czentnar and freshman Meghan Majeski each batted 3-for-4 with Czentnar hitting her second triple of the season and adding two more RBI to her numbers.

Junior Randee Bettis (5-1) cruised to her fifth win of the season allowing just two hits while striking out six.

Clark Atlanta's Jessica Vason (0-1) suffered the loss in just one inning of work. Vason gave up four hits and six runs while walking three batters in the inning. Shamitra Woods entered in the second innings giving up 10 hits and eight runs.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Majeski continued her hot streak going 4-for-4 with two RBI in the night cap. Czentnar and junior Trudi Shuman each went 3-for-4 with both recording a double. Junior Rachael Barefield batted 2-for-3 with a double and RBI while freshman Kasey Grant went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

Senior Augie Pena (6-1) recorded her sixth win of the season in three innings of work. Pena scattered three hits while striking out three. Senior Lauren Rudesheim pitched the final two innings giving up three hits and five runs while striking out one.

For the Panthers, Jacey Gray (0-2) took the loss in game two. Gray gave up 17 hits and 13 runs while walking two batters.

NOTABLES

-Niles went 3-for-6 on the day with two doubles, a home run and 9 RBI.

-Majeski batted 7-for-8 with five runs scored, a triple, two RBI and four stolen bases.

-On the day, Czentnar went 6-for-8 with a double, a triple, three runs scored and four RBI.

UP NEXT

The Trojans travel to nonconference opponent Pfeiffer on Thursday. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 2pm/4pm.
