Tuten Earns Google Cloud Academic All-District Honors

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University rising junior Hayden Tuten has been named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, as announced last week.

The teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

During last fall's cross country campaign, Tuten captured 23rd place at Southern Wesleyan's Invitational in a time of 24:28.0 over a four-mile course and claimed the 75th spot at North Georgia's Sixth Annual Invitational in a time of 29:47.07. He recorded a personal-best time of 16:52.12 en route to a 13th-place finish in the 5,000 meters at Southern Wesleyan's Susan Rouse Invitational in early April, while posting a 17th-place finish in the 1,500 meters at SWU and finished 61st in the mile run at the Camel City Invite in early February.

The Columbia, S.C., native is majoring in business/marketing with a 4.00 GPA.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced later this month.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
