OAKWOOD, Ga. – Paced by freshman Logan Horning's 21st-place finish, the Anderson men's cross country team finished fifth at the 2018 NCAA Southeast Regional, which was hosted by North Georgia on the Nighthawk's Gainesville campus in Oakwood, Ga.
With three runners finishing in the top-five spots, Queens claimed first place, with Mount Olive taking home second place and Augusta finishing third. UNC Pembroke was just in front of the Trojans in the fourth spot.
UNC Pembroke's Joshua Chepkesir earned individual honors in a time of 31:09.96, with Carson-Newman's Luke Greer finishing second in a time of 31:10.23.
Horning earned All-Southeast Region honors by crossing the 10k distance in a time of 32:47.42, while sophomore Weston Hutto narrowly missed bringing home all-region accolades by crossing the finish line in 26th place in a personal-best time of 33:22.88.
Sophomore Phillip Quillen claimed 40th place with a career-best time of 33:53.13, with classmate Ben Clark (33:54.80) crossing the finish line in 42nd place. Sophomore Joey Teachout notched a career-best time of 34:10.08 and claimed 51st place, while the freshman tandem of freshman Noah McLain (35:08.28) and Thomas Sutcliffe (35:44.30).
