Men’s Cross Country Claims Third Place at Sixth Annual North Georgia Invitational

OAKWOOD, Ga. – Led by freshman Logan Horning's ninth-place finish, the Anderson men's cross country team claimed third place at the Sixth Annual North Georgia Invitational, Saturday morning on the Nighthawk's Oakwood campus.

Augusta won the 11-team event, which was billed as a preview of November's NCAA Southeast Region Championship course, while UNC Pembroke claimed second place and the Trojans in third. Columbus State finished fourth, with Tusculum claiming fifth place.

Lincoln Memorial finished sixth, followed by North Greenville, West Georgia, Shorter, Mars Hill and Clark Atlanta.

Horning crossed the finish line in a time of 26:12.96, with sophomore Weston Hutto claiming 12th place in a time of 26:45.99. Freshman Noah McLain (27:01.36) and sophomore Phillip Quillen (27:14.21) finished 20th and 24th, respectively.

Sophomore Joey Teachout (27:58.75), freshman Thomas Sutcliffe (28:00.73) and junior Luke Horne (28:01.89) claimed 38th, 39th and 40th place, respectively. Sophomore Cameron Owens-Hunter finished 57th in a time of 28:50.03, with freshman Derek Hildebrand just behind in 58th place in a time of 28:54.05.

Sophomore David Rolon crossed the finish line in a career-best time of 28:58.50 over the 8K course and claimed 61st place, while classmate Hayden Tuten was 75th in a time of 29:47.07

Following a two-week layoff, Anderson is scheduled will get back on the course on Friday, Oct. 12, at the Royals Challenge in Charlotte, N.C.
