Men’s Cross Country Finishes First at Piedmont College Invitational

TALLULAH FALLS, Ga. – In its final tune-up before the South Atlantic Conference Championships in two weeks, the Anderson men's cross country team closed the regular season by finishing first at the Piedmont College Invitational, Saturday morning.

The Trojans were coming off a win at the USC Upstate Invitational, while senior Mason Hazel posted his second straight individual win after claiming first place at last week's USC Upstate Invitational. The Summerville, S.C., brought home the Piedmont Invitational crown in a time of 27:08.7. Freshman Weston Hutto was close behind in second place, posting a time of 27:08.9.

Freshman Ben Clark (27:09.2) claimed third place, with classmate Cameron Owens-Hunter (27:50.7) finishing in sixth place. Freshman Joey Teachout finished in eighth place in a time of 27:56.2, while freshman Phillip Quillen was 13th in a time of 28:42.8.

Sophomore Luke Horne Luke Horne (28:54.2) was 16th, with John Drummond claiming 26th place in a time of 30:21.5. Freshman Riley Dixon crossed the finish line in 28th place in a time of 30:28.1.

Anderson is slated to get back on the course in two weeks for the South Atlantic Conference Championships in Hickory, N.C., Oct. 21.
