NEW ORLEANS – The Anderson University women's and men's cross country teams are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII Regional Rankings, as released Tuesday afternoon.
The only change among the teams in the women's poll was that North Georgia and Anderson flipped spots in the rankings, with the Nighthawks moving up to third after being idle last week. The Black and Gold slipped one spot to fourth despite winning the USC Upstate Invitational in convincing fashion last Saturday.
Queens, one of four South Atlantic Conference teams in the poll, stayed at the top of the rankings, with Mount Olive, the lone Conference Carolinas' representative, staying second. North Georgia led five Peach Belt Conference teams in the rankings at No. 3, with Wingate continuing to occupy the fifth slot. Augusta remained sixth, while Georgia College, Flagler, UNC Pembroke and Lenoir-Rhyne rounded out the women's poll.
The top six teams in the men's rankings remained unchanged, with Mount Olive at No. 1, while Queens remained second. Augusta is in the third spot, with UNC Pembroke in fourth, with AU remaining in the fifth spot for the fourth straight week after being ranked ninth in the preseason.
Wingate occupied the sixth spot for the second consecutive week, with Lenoir-Rhyne moving back into the top 10 at No. 7 after dropping out last week. Defending SAC Champion Mars Hill slipped to eighth, with Columbus State falling to No. 9, while Georgia College rounded out the poll at 10th. Lincoln Memorial fell out of this week's poll.
