Respress Sets Long Jump School Record in Day One of 2022 Trojan Opener

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's track and field team completed the first day of the 2022 Trojan Opener on Friday (Mar. 18) with seven top-ten finishes. This marked the first track and field meet held on the campus of Anderson University.

"It was a monumental day for our program," said coach Kevin Eagle. "Even with a storm rolling in and causing a three-hour delay, I could not have asked for a better experience for our coaches and athletes!"

Simeon Respress set an Anderson school record in the long jump with a distance of 6.87m, finishing in third place.

Philip Quillen finished third in the 1500m in a time of 4:00.53, while David Mahnke was close behind at 4:02.08 to finish sixth place.

Patrick Berlejung finished third in the 5000m at a pace of 14:52.04. Thomas Sutcliffe (15:08.25), Jonathan Roberts (15:22.98), and Ty Nelson (15:28.48) finished fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively. Noah Brock set a new PR with a time of 15:52.17.
