Trojan Track and Field Posts Strong Marks at Emory Invitational

ATLANTA – The Anderson University men's and women's track and field teams combined for six top-10 finishes Friday at the Emory Invitational.

Sophomore Olivia Evans paced four Trojans in the 10,000 meter run by finishing fifth in a time of 39:34.07, while freshman Melea Sangl (40:27.19) claimed eighth place. Sophomore Hannah Beach (40:27.99) and junior Emily Olson (45:38.11) finished ninth and 16th respectively.

Senior Madison Seay claimed 12th place in the women's 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:04.19.

On the men's side, freshman Scott Sanford finished third in the javelin throw with a distance of 48.43 meters, with Robert Jones finishing 16th with a toss of 41.60 meters. Jones also finished 18th in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 58.75.

Sophomore Joey Teachout was fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:05.82, while freshman Thomas Sutcliffe claimed 16th place in a time of 10:51.60. Senior Anthony Aleruchi finished 16th in the men's hammer throw with a toss of 39.19 meters, while Connor Wheatley claimed 21st place with a distance of 32.98 meters.

Sophomore Philip Quillen claimed seventh place in the men's 10,000 meter run in a time of 32:53.12.

The Trojans are scheduled to get back in action, Friday at the Terrier Relays.
