Trojan Track and Field Notches a Dozen Top-25 Finishes at USC Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Anderson men's and women's track and field teams combined to capture twelve top-25 finishes Saturday at the USC Indoor Open, which was hosted by the Gamecocks, Saturday at their Indoor Track and Field Complex.

Freshman Kamryn Osterbind finished seventh in the women's 800 meters in a time of 2:22.17, with sophomore Lydia Gambrell claiming 14th in a time of 2:31.84. Sophomore Natalie Ardis (2:45.91) finished in 24th place. Sophomore Olivia Rish finished 16th in the women's mile run in a personal-best time of 5:26.10, with senior JoLyn Copeland finishing 17th in the women's weight throw with a distance of 14.37 meters.

Sophomore Olivia Evans crossed the finish line in 18th place in the women's 3,000 meters in a time of 10:51.84, with sophomore Hannah Beach (10:59.53) and senior Martha Coleman (11:00.90) claiming 23rd and 25th place, respectively and junior Emily Olson (12:08.28) finishing 38th.

Sophomore Joey Teachout finished 14th in the men's mile run in a time of 4:29.33, with classmate Philip Quillen claiming 17th place in a personal-best time of 4:30.68.

Freshman Logan Horning (8:51.73) led four Trojans with an eighth-place finish in the men's 3,000 meters, while classmate Thomas Sutcliffe (9:20.33) finished 26th. The freshman tandem of Brandon Wilson (9:27.56) and Noah Mclain (9:27.65) finished 30th and 31st, respectively.

Sophomore Cameron Owens-Hunter claimed 16th in the men's 800 meters in a time of 1:58.40, while fellow sophomore Matthew Burgess (2:04.84) and junior Luke Horne (2:04.85) finished 31st and 32nd, respectively, with Horne trimming more than four seconds off his previous career-best. Sophomores David Rolon (2:14.27) and Hayden Tuten (2:21.40) claimed 44th and 45th, respectively.

Sophomore Connor Wheatley claimed 27th place in the men's shot put with a career-best toss of 11.14 meters and freshman Matt Hobbs finished 73rd in the men's 200 meter dash in a time of 23.60.

The Trojans will get back in action Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23-24, at the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships.
