Track and Field Posts Five Top-25 Finishes on Opening Day of UofSC’s Gamecock Inaugural

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Paced by senior JoLyn Copeland and junior Jordan Anderson, the Anderson University men's and women's track and field teams resumed their respective indoor seasons Friday at South Carolina's Gamecock Inaugural, host by UofSC at the Carolina Indoor Track & Field Complex.

Copeland claimed 15th place in the women's weight throw with a toss of 13.15 meters, while freshman Regan Appleby finished 23rd with a toss of 11.66 meters. Senior Madison Seay finished 36th in the women's 400 meter dash in a time of 1:03.74, while freshman Katharine Landry finished 45th in the women's 60 meter dash in a time of 8.79.

Junior Jordan Anderson nearly equaled his personal best time (7.07) by crossing the finish line in a time of 7.08 and claiming 17th in the men's 60 meter dash and claimed 35th in the men's 400 meter dash. Freshman Matthew Hobbs posted a personal-best time of 54.69 in the 400 meters and crossed the finish line in 51st place.

Senior Anthony Aleruchi finished 11th in the men's weight throw with a toss of 13.63 meters and freshman Scott Sanford finished 21st in the men's shot put with a career-best toss of 10.59 meters.

Anderson will return to action on Saturday at the Gamecock Inaugural.
