Royals Snap Trojans Seven Match Win Streak with 2-1 Victory

Charlotte, N.C. – Anderson University men's soccer dropped a tough, 2-1, decision at South Atlantic Conference opponent Queens on Wednesday evening at Dickson Field.

With the setback, the Trojans fall to 10-5-1 overall and 5-3-1 in SAC play, while the Royals move to 10-5 overall and 7-3 in conference action.

Queens scored in the first 15 seconds of the match on an unassisted goal by Michael Hornsby.

Anderson scored the equalizer in the 36th minute of action on an unassisted goal by junior Alexander Cox-Ashwood. The Trojans lone goal was Cox-Ashwood's third of the season.

The Royals scored the winning goal in the 66th minute of play, while holding off the Trojans final surge of the second half.

Queens outshot the Black and Gold 13(9) – 7(4) while winning the corner kick advantage, 4-2.

BETWEEN THE POSTS

Anderson's Gal Elyashiv was credited with seven saves, while Queens Sebastian Kalk recorded three stops.

NEXT UP

Anderson will begin the SAC Championship as the No. 5 seed on Sunday when it travels to the fourth-seeded Tusculum Pioneers. Kick-off is slated for 2 p.m.
