Elyashiv’s Solid Play Between the Posts Help Run Trojans Win Streak to Six Straight

Hickory, N.C. – Anderson University men's soccer won its sixth straight contest, defeating South Atlantic Conference opponent Lenoir-Rhyne, 1-0, on Saturday evening at Bears Field.

With the win, the Trojans improve to 9-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in SAC play, while the Bears drop to 7-7-1 overall and 4-4-1 in conference action.

Lenoir-Rhyne recorded eight shots on goal, including a penalty kick opportunity that junior Gal Elyashiv refused to let get past him. His tremendous play along with a motivated Trojan lineup were able to stave off the Bears, while punching the game-winner in the 78th minute of action.

Junior Renato Oban served a perfect cross, which junior Harry Ward punched past the keeper to the far post. Ward's goal was his team leading seventh of the year.

The Bears outshot Anderson 15(8) – 4(3) along with winning the corner kick advantage, 6-2.

COACHES CORNER

"I'm very happy for the team right now, said head coach Michael Zion. "Six in a row is something special. Now we get a much needed week to prepare for Catawba. At this point in the season, not having a mid-week game can be a life line. We will use the break to get re-energized and get our legs back. This week has been tough but certainly exciting."
