Trojans Hold off Pesky Pioneers; Defeat Tusculum on the Road, 1-0

Greeneville, Tenn. – Anderson University men's soccer capitalized on its only shot on goal to pick up its first South Atlantic Conference win of the season, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon against Tusculum at Pioneer Field.

With the win, the Trojans improve to 4-4-1 overall and 1-3-1 in conference play, while the Pioneers drop to 2-5-1 overall and 1-2-1 in SAC play.

Junior Harry Ward used a well placed pass from senior Jhon Vacca to score his fourth  goal of the season and the eventual game winner in the 22nd minute of action.

The Trojans backline and junior keeper Gal Elyashiv held off the relentless Tusculum offensive attack with some tremendous stops.

Tusculum outshot Anderson 12(5) – 7(1) and held the corner kick advantage 7-6.

BETWEEN THE POSTS

AU'S Gal Elyashiv was credited with five saves on the afternoon, earning his fourth clean sheet of the season.
