Men’s Soccer Blanks Lees-McRae; 3-0

Banner Elk, N.C. - Anderson men's soccer continued its solid play, blanking Conference Carolinas foe Lees-McRae, 3-0, on Wednesday evening at Tate Field.

With the victory, the Trojans improve to 2-1 on the season, while the Bobcats fall to 0-2-1 overall.

Redshirt junior Alexander Cox-Ashwood scored the lone goal of the first half in the 28th minute. Junior Harry Ward was credited with the assist for the Black and Gold.

Anderson punched in two more goals in the second half of action. Ward cleaned up a cross by sophomore Trevor Byrne in the 56th minute of action, while senior Colin Burris scored his seventh career goal after beating the keeper to the ball and punching it in.

Anderson outshot Lees-McRae 17(9) – 12(3), with Lees-McRae holding the slight 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

BETWEEN THE POSTS

AU'S Gal Elyashiv recorded two saves in 76 minutes of action, while sophomore Trojan keeper Neko Crist recorded one save in the final 14 minutes of the match.

Bobcats keeper Anton Sundstrom was credited with six saves on the night.
