Greenville, S.C. - Anderson men's soccer defeated Conference Carolinas foe Southern Wesleyan, 2-0, on Saturday evening at Legacy Early College Field.
With the victory, the Trojans move to 1-1 on the season, while the Warriors drop to 0-1 overall.
Redshirt junior Alexander Cox-Ashwood busted up the 0-0 draw by driving home a rebounded shot attempt from senior Colin Burris to score what would eventually be the game-winner. Burris hustled towards the goal to beat the keeper to the ball and fired a bullet to the center of the goal. Warrior defender Alex Miner blocked the shot with Cox-Ashwood drilling the deflection to the back of the net for his first goal as a Trojan.
Trojan junior Lucas Mostajo scored Anderson's second goal of the evening just after the second half kick-off to set the final score at, 2-0.
Anderson outshot Southern Wesleyan 20 – 9 and took five corner kicks to the Warriors one.

AU'S Gal Elyashiv recorded one save in 80:58 minutes of action, while sophomore Trojan keeper Neko Crist recorded 9:02 of action.
Warriors keeper Brandon Smith was credited with seven saves on the night.

I thought Southern Wesleyan were resilient and difficult to break down, but we stuck with it and eventually came out on top. The team is looking forward to the next challenge."
