DAHLONEGA, Ga. – After a first half draw and over 35 minutes of a scoreless second half, Anderson University men's soccer relinquished the game winner in the 81st minute as the University of North Georgia men's soccer team earned a 2-1 win over Anderson Saturday night at the UNG Soccer Complex.
With the loss, the Trojans fall to 1-2 on the season while North Georgia moves to 1-1-1.
The Nighthawks struck first as Alex Grant drew a penalty kick that Adam Ferrell was able to convert and put the Nighthawks up, 1-0.
The Trojans scored just inside the halftime horn on a goal off a corner kick to tie the match. Sophomore Harry Ward connected with freshman Shalev Keter.
After a long lull in scoring, North Georgia's Eren Ozer found Prince Domafriyie who fired the ball into the upper right corner of the frame to push the Nighthawks out in front in the 81st minute.
Anderson created a couple of good chances late, but the Nighthawk's Matt Sharman made the stops to help preserve the 2-1 win. Sharman was credited with eight saves on the evening while AU's keeper Gal Elyashiv recorded five.
The Trojans remain on the road to open up South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday at Coker. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
