ROCK HILL, S.C - Anderson University men's soccer has been predicted to finish sixth in the South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coach's Poll announced by the league office on Monday.
The Trojans finished 9-8-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the league last season reaching the SAC semifinals. Anderson returns 15 players and among those are eight seniors.
Wingate has been selected as the favorite to win the 2018 SAC Championship, earning 9 first place votes and a total of 109 points. Lenoir-Rhyne picked up a first place earning a total of 97 points for a second place prediction. Lincoln Memorial and Carson-Newman earned 86 points with the Railsplitters earning a first place vote. Queens rounded out the top five with 70 total points while Anderson claimed the sixth slot with 57 points. Tusculum collected 55 points placing the Pioneers in the seventh slot. Newberry tallied 51 points while landing in the eighth slot. Coker, Mars Hill and Catawba rounded out the 2018 SAC Preseason Poll.
The preseason first and second team selections were released today with Anderson senior Cameron Emerson earning a spot on the first team.
Emerson started 17 matches for the Trojans while scoring two goals and tallying four assists. The native of Auckland, New Zealand was an All-SAC Second Team honoree following the 2017 season.
Anderson will open its 2018 campaign on August 30th when it host Lees-McRae. Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
