Calabria Scores Twice; Trojans Claim Victory on Senior Night

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's soccer finished off its regular season home play with a, 3-1, victory over nonconference opponent Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday evening at Trojan Stadium.

With the win, the Black and Gold improve to 7-7-1 overall while the Warriors fall to 5-8-2 on the season. Anderson finished its regular home season with a 6-2 record while sending the seniors out with a victory.

Sophomore Shinya Nagata capitalized on senior Josh Calabria's pass knocking in the first goal of the match in the 23rd minute. Nagata's goal was the first of the season and second of his career.

Southern Wesleyan's Grant Kiker scored the equalizer in the 64th minute to give new life to the Warriors. Prior to the goal, Anderson's backline, which featured senior Remi Lesterlou, kept the Warriors off balance.

The Trojans answered back in the 74th minute when Calabria chipped in a goal that rebounded off the post from freshman Thomas Joergsholm's near make. Calabria scored another goal within the 74th minute after taking a short pass from senior Lars Kaula.

Anderson outshot the Warriors 18-8 with nine of its shots coming on goal. Southern Wesleyan edged out the Trojans in corner kicks with a 5-4 advantage.

Anderson returns to South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday when it travels to Mars Hill to complete regular season play. Kick-off is slated for 3:30 p.m.
