Trojans Fall at Wingate; 4-1

WINGATE, N.C. – Anderson University men's soccer scored first before relinquishing four straight goals to preseason South Atlantic Conference favorite Wingate falling, 4-1 on Saturday evening at the WU Soccer Complex.

With the loss, the Trojans drop to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in conference action while Wingate moves to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in SAC play.

The Black and Gold jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 14th minute of the match. Junior Cameron Emerson scored his first goal of the season when teammates Lars Kaula and Thomas Joergsholm converted on a cross and redirect to find an open Emerson.

The defending 2016 National Champions were able to answer back with two quick goal in the 27th and 29th minute to take a 2-1 lead over the Trojans heading into the half.

The Bulldogs scored again in the 65th minute while putting the match out of reach with their fourth and final goal in the 76th minute.

Wingate won the shot battle outshooting Anderson, 14-7, as well as taking a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Anderson returns home to host SAC opponent Coker on Wednesday. Kick-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Trojan Stadium.
