Men’s Soccer Defeats Lander; 3-2

ANDERSON, S.C. - Led by freshman Thomas Joergsholm two first half goals, Anderson University men's soccer collected its second straight win on the season defeating Lander, 3-2, Wednesday evening at Trojan Stadium.

The victory propels the Trojans to 3-1 on the season heading into South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday. The loss drops the Bearcats to 3-2 on the season.

Joergsholm scored in the 3rd mintue of the game on a misplayed ball by the keeper. The native of Farum, Denmark, then took a perfect pass from Cameron Emerson in the 24th minute beating the goalie to the far post. North Georgia cut the lead in half, 2-1, in the 28th minute when the Nighthawks Thibault Chretien drilled a shot from 40 yards away.

In the 41st minute, Ian Foulger headed in a corner kick off the foot of Oliver Brock to even the score, 2-2.

The Trojans were able to takes the final lead just over two minutes into the second half. Junior Timmo Herrmann headed the ball in after a perfectly served corner kick from Joergsholm.

Freshman keeper Gal Elyashiv tallied seven saves on the evening with none bigger than the leaping save around the 82nd mark to preserve the victory. Elyashiv has recorded a total of 16 saves on the season on his way to a 3-0 record.

Anderson returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Wingate to open South Atlantic Conference play. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
