Mars Hill Shuts Out Anderson, 3-0

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Mars Hill won its second straight match in the final round of the Mars Hill Invitational on Sunday night with a 3-0 victory over visiting Anderson College. MHC is now 2-0 on the season while the Trojans fall to 0-2. Daniel Waymon scored at the 36:05 mark in the opening half on a penalty kick. That score would prove to be the match winner. The teams carried that score into the locker room at halftime. The Lions added insurance goals in the 84th and 88th minutes to make the final tally 3-0. Chad Quinn put a header past Anderson's keeper with five minutes left in regulation (84:55) off a cross from Ryan Minor. Waymont then scored his second goal of the game on a cross from Scott Nichols at the 88:50 mark. Anderson out shot MHC 22-7 in the match. MHC keeper Josiah Larson picked up his second shut out on the year. He made nine saves in the win. Jack Ward played all 90 minutes in goal for Anderson and made one save in the match.
