ANDERSON, S.C. -- Three Anderson College athletic teams will open their 2005 seasons this weekend. The volleyball team and women's soccer team will open at home, while the men's soccer team will play two matches on the road. The volleyball team will play host to the AC Invitational at the Abney Center. The five-team round-robin tournament begins at 11 a.m. Friday. On Friday, Anderson will play North Greenville at 3 p.m. and North Carolina Pembroke at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the start time for the first match will be 10 a.m. Anderson will play Fayetteville State at 2 p.m. and Mars Hill at 6 p.m. The AC women's soccer team will open its '05 season at 2 p.m. Saturday when the Lander Bearcats come to Smethers Field. The AC men's soccer team will play in the Mars Hill Invitational Friday and Sunday. The Trojans will face Lenior-Rhyne at 4 p.m. Friday and host Mars Hill at 5 p.m. Sunday.
