Men’s Golf Finishes 10th at South Atlantic Conference Championship

CAMDEN, S.C. – Paced by junior Jake Miller's three-round, 10-over-par 220, the Anderson University men's golf team claimed 10th place Tuesday at the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Championship, which was hosted by Coker at the par-70, 6,455-yard Camden Country Club.

Queens, which entered the final round trailing Newberry by three strokes, won its first title since joining the league for the 2014 season. Newberry, which led the 11-team field following each of the first two rounds and was seeking its first SAC title since 2011, finished as runners-up by just one stroke. Coker was 10 strokes further back in third place, with Lincoln Memorial claiming fourth place. Two-Time defending champion Carson-Newman moved up one spot into fifth, while Wingate finished sixth.

Lenoir-Rhyne, which was ninth following Sunday's first round and fourth entering today's final round, finished seventh. Tusculum moved up to finish eighth, with Catawba holding the ninth slot. Anderson and Mars Hill rounded out the field.

Newberry's Harry Bolton (66-73-71=210) led the tournament wire-to-wire and claimed individual medalist honors by two shots over teammate Adrian Villiger. Queens' Jonathan Noble was one shot further back in third, with teammate Henry Bryden, Lenoir-Rhyne's Dawson Walker and Coker's Wanjoo Lee finishing in a tie for fourth – four strokes off the pace set by Bolton.

Miller posted a 6-over-par 76 on Tuesday and finished in a three-way tie for 12th, with junior Brady Cox also carding a final-round 76 and sharing 40th place.
Senior Hunter Parks notched an 80 in the final round and finished in a tie for 45th, while junior Drake McAlister and senior Cole Jefferys also each carded 80s on Tuesday and finished 50th and 51st, respectively.
