Men’s Golf Goes Coast-to-Coast for 46th Annual Hanny Stanislaus Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. – Following just a five-day break from its last outing, the Anderson men's golf team will get back in action at the 46th Annual Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, Monday and Tuesday at the Turlock (Calif.) Golf and Country Club.

The 54-hole, three-round tournament is slated to start with 36 holes on Monday, with shotgun start tee times beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday's final 18-hole single round is also a shotgun format, and also scheduled for an 8 a.m. start.

The tournament will take place at the Turlock Golf and Country Club, southwest of Turlock, Calif., on a 6,641-yard, par-72 layout.

Joining Anderson and host Stanislaus State in the 18-team field are Chico State, Hawaii Hilo, Simon Fraser, Academy of Art, Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State San Marcos, Notre Dame de Namur, Western Washington, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State East Bay, Sonoma State, UC San Diego, Concordia (Ore.), Biola, Holy Names and Dominican.

Eight teams ranked in the top-50 nationally by Golfstat will be competing in the tourney, including No. 4 Western Washington, 10th-ranked Chico State, No. 13 Sonoma State, 15th-ranked Simon Fraser, No. 33 Stanislaus State, No. 34 Cal State East Bay, 43rd-ranked UC San Diego and No. 47 Concordia (Ore.).

Last week, junior Jake Miller carded a three-round, 2-under-par 214 to pace the Trojans, as they finished in 22nd place at the Lander Bearcat Classic. Miller claimed a share of fifth place at the Bearcat Classic, while senior Grayson Bell finished in a tie for 80th place. Sophomore Cal Brock finished in a tie for 94th, with fellow sophomore Colt Martin finishing in a tie for 108th and senior Cole Jefferys rounded out the Trojan contingent alone in 110th place.

Miller paces the Trojans with a 72.28 stroke average and has posted five top-15 finishes this year. Brock, Miller and Bell have each posted low-round 67s this year, while Martin notched a 69 in the second round of the Donald Ross Intercollegiate. Brock has a 75.12 stroke average and two top-10 finishes, with
Bell owning a 76.72 stroke average and Martin owning a 77.00 stroke average through seven tournaments. Bell captured individual medalist honors at the King Invitational in late September.

Notables
California Baptist won last year's event with an 871 (+7) score, six strokes ahead of second place and host Stanislaus State. Cal Baptist's Ben Hallam was the medalist with a 4-under 212, two shots ahead of Jeff Yamaguchi of Stan State. Hallam shot a 66 in the final round (72-74-66), with only three players shooting under-par scores for the tournament.

Stanislaus State has won the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational 26 times in tournament history, including 15 of the last 23, the most recent was 2013. Gene Webster of Cal State San Bernardino holds the tournament record with an 18-under 198 (68-67-63) set in 2010.
