Men’s Golf Readies for Bearcat Golf Classic; Trojans Can Clinch Beville Cup for Seventh Straight Year

ANDERSON, S.C. – Following a three-week layoff, the Anderson men's golf team will get back in action at the Bearcat Golf Classic, which will be hosted by Lander at the par-72, 6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.

Joining Anderson and Lander in the 22-team field are seventh-ranked Young Harris, along with No. 11 Lincoln Memorial. Barton, Belmont Abbey, Catawba, Clayton State, Coker, Delta State, Erskine, Flagler, Georgia College, Georgia Southwestern, King, Lenoir-Rhyne, Mount Olive, Newberry, North Georgia, Queens, West Georgia and Wingate round out the field.

Paced by Jake Miller's three-round, 3-over-par 219, the Trojans finished in a tie for 16th at last year's Bearcat Classic.

Miller finished in a tie for 22nd a year ago, with Grayson Bell sharing 56th place. Brady Cox claimed a tie for 73rd place, while Colt Martin finished in a tie for 88th place. Cal Brock rounded out the Trojan contingent in a tie for 97th place a year ago.

Three weeks ago, Miller fired a three-round, 1-under-par 213 to lead the Black and Gold to a 13th-place finish at the Southern Tide Intercollegiate, in Greenville, S.C. The Anderson, S.C., native finished in a four-way tie for ninth, with Martin claiming a share of 53rd place. Bell finished in a tie for 58th, while Hunter Parks notched a share of 68th place.

Miller leads the Trojans with a 72.47 stroke average and has notched four top-15 finishes this year. Brock, Miller and Bell have each posted low-round 67s this year, with Brock owning a 74.57 stroke average and a pair of top-10 finishes. Martin has recorded a 75.93 stroke average and Bell has a 76.73 stroke average through six tournaments, while winning the King Invitational in late September.

If the Trojans finish the two-day event ahead of archrival Erskine, AU will clinch its' seventh straight Cup Championship and ninth in 10 years.
