MORGANTON, N.C. – Led by sophomore Cal Brock's three-round, even-par 210, the Anderson University men's golf team closed out its fall schedule by climbing two spots and finishing sixth at the 54-hole Donald Ross Intercollegiate, which was hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne at the par-70, 6,718 yard, Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club.
The host Bears snapped a deadlock with Newberry to win the event by four shots over the Wolves. Southern Wesleyan finished 16 strokes further back in third place, with North Greenville and Erskine each moving up one spot to finish fourth and fifth, respectively. The Trojans held the sixth spot, while Mars Hill dropped three spots and finished in a tie for seventh, alongside Mount Olive.
Catawba, Belmont Abbey, Milligan, Emmanuel, Chowan and Fayetteville State rounded out the 14-team field.
Brock fired a two-over-par 72 in Tuesday's final round and finished in a four-way tie for sixth place, while junior Jake Miller carded his best round of the fall with a 3-under-par 67 and vaulted 12 spots to claim a share of 11th place. Sophomore Colt Martin jumped 10 spots on the strength of a final-round 1-over 71 and finished in a six-way tie for 28th place.
Seniors Grayson Bell and Cole Jefferys finished in a tie for 81st place after each posted 238s over the three rounds. Junior Drake McAlister notched a 248 and finished in 92nd place.
