Men’s Golf to Wrap up Fall Slate at Donald Ross Intercollegiate

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's golf team is set to close out its fall schedule Monday and Tuesday, when the Trojans travel to Morganton, N.C., for Lenoir-Rhyne's Donald Ross Intercollegiate. The Bears will host the 54-hole event at the Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club.

With 36 holes on Monday and concluding with the final round on Tuesday, the two-day event will be the first 54-hole event of the season for the Trojans. AU has not finished lower than sixth this fall after opening the season with a third- place finish at the AU Invitational and following up with a second-place finish three weeks ago at the King University Invitational.

AU opened the month of October by sharing sixth place at Lincoln Memorial's Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. Junior Drake McAlister's two-day, 4-over-par 146 put him in in a tie for 15th, as the Easley, S.C., native paced the Black and Gold. Junior Jake Miller finished in a five-way tie for 18th, with sophomore Colt Martin sharing 41st place. Sophomore Cal Brock finished tied for 47th, with senior Grayson Bell sharing 61st place.

The Trojans improved their score over each of last year's final two rounds and finished 10th at the 2017 Donald Ross Intercollegiate. Miller finished in a five-way tie for 33rd a year ago, with Brady Cox sharing 38th place. Martin finished in a share of 49th, while McAlister tied for 51st and Brock finished in a tie for 60th.

Through the three fall tournaments, Miller leads the team with a 72.67 stroke average and posted a 70 in the first round of the AU Invitational. Bell and Brock share low-round honors, with each posting rounds of 67 on the season. Bell is second on the squad with a 74.33 stroke average, while Brock is just behind with a 75.00 average.
