Men’s Golf Readies for Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate

ANDERSON, S.C. – After posting a pair of top-3 finishes in its first two fall tournaments, the Anderson University men's golf team will get back in action at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, which will be co-hosted by Lincoln Memorial and Lenoir-Rhyne, Monday and Tuesday at Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.

The Trojans opened their fall slate by finishing third at the AU Invitational three weeks ago and followed up with a strong runner-up finish at last week's King University Invitational.

Senior Grayson Bell fired a two-round, 4-under-par 136 to capture individual medalist honors at the King Invitational by one stroke, while sophomore Cal Brock finished sixth. Junior Jake Miller shared 14th place, with sophomore Colt Martin and junior Drake McAlister sharing 20th place. Senior Cole Jefferys finished in a tie for 28th.

The Trojans finished in a tie for 10th at last year's Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, with Miller's two-day, 6-over-par 150 pacing the squad. Miller finished in a tie for 26th, while Bell, Brock, Brady Cox and senior Forrest Fowler finished the event in a tie for 47th. Drake McAlister rounded out the Trojan contingent in 86th place a year ago.

Through the two fall tourneys, Bell leads the team with a 72.00 stroke average and shares low-round honors with Brock, with each posting rounds of 67. Miller carded a 70 in the opening round of the AU Invitational and is second on the squad with a 72.25 stroke average. Brock holds a 74.00 stroke average through four rounds, with Martin just behind with a 74.75 average.
