Bell Wins King Invitational; Trojans Finish Second

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Anderson senior Grayson Bell carded a two-day, 4-under-par 136 to win the King University Invitational, while the team claimed second place, Tuesday at the Country Club of Bristol's par 70, 6,483 yard layout.

North Greenville rallied from three shots off the pace to win the tournament, with the Trojans eight shots behind. The host Tornado moved up one spot and finished in third place, while Belmont Abbey also jumped up one spot to claim fourth place. Milligan College slipped from second place to fifth, with King (B) taking sixth place. Catawba and Virginia-Wise finished out the eight-team field.

Bell entered Tuesday's final round in a three-way tie for first, but posted five birdies during the day to capture the one-shot victory over Belmont Abbey's Maurizio DeBono, King's Alex Bradford and North Greenville's Evans Lewis.

AU sophomore Cal Brock (72-67=139) slashed five strokes off his first-round score and moved from a share of 10th place into sixth. Junior Jake Miller shared 14th place after firing a two-day, 4-over-par 144.

Sophomore Colt Martin (74-74=148) and junior Drake McAlister (75-73=148) tied for 20th place, with senior Cole Jefferys (75-77-152) finishing in a tie for 28th.

The Trojans are slated to get back in action at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, which will be co-hosted by Lincoln Memorial and Lenoir-Rhyne, Monday and Tuesday at Ocean Ridge Plantation.
