Men’s Golf in First Place after Opening Round of King Invitational

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Paced by senior Grayson Bell's 3-under-par 67, the Anderson University men's golf team leads the King University Invitational by two shots following opening-round action Monday at the par 70, 6,483 yard Country Club of Bristol layout.

Anderson leads the two-day event by two strokes over Milligan College, while North Greenville is just one shot further back in third place. The host Tornado are four shots off the pace in fourth, with Belmont Abbey in fifth place. King (B) holds the sixth slot, while Catawba and Virginia-Wise round out the eight-team field.

Bell is in a three-way tie for first entering Tuesday's final round after carding the Trojans' best round of the young season. The Piedmont, S.C., native posted six birdies on the day and is even with Belmont Abbey's Maurizio DeBono and King's Alex Bradford atop the individual leaderboard. Six additional golfers, including AU's Jake Miller, are within four shots of the leaders.

Miller is tied for eighth after firing a 1-over-par 71, while sophomores Cal Brock (72) and Colt Martin (74) are tied for 10th place and 20th place, respectively. Senior Cole Jefferys and junior Drake McAlister share 22nd place after each notched a first-round 75.
