After thriving during Friday's second round and surviving the cut with a 4-under-par 67, Anderson University rising junior Jake Miller carded a 2-over-par 73 on Saturday and is in a five-way tie for 18th at the 87th South Carolina Golf Association (SCGA) Amateur Championship.
The four-day event is being hosted at the Dataw Island Club's Cotton Dike Course on a par-71, 6,692 yard layout.
Only 10 golfers have total scores at par or better, with Columbia's William Harwood (198) posting a round of 66 for the third consecutive day and holds a four-stroke lead over Easley's Sawyer Mills (202), while the first-round leader, Jake Carter (207), slipped to third and is nine strokes off the pace set by Harwood after carding a 4-over-par 75 on Saturday.
Miller, an Anderson native, was consistent throughout Friday's round and offset his lone bogey on the second hole with five birdies throughout the round. He posted a pair of birdies during Saturday's third round – on the par-4 eighth hole and the par-4 10th hole – and holds a three-round (76-67-73) 216 heading into Sunday's final round.
Sunday's round will begin at 8 a.m. off the No.1 and No. 10 tee.
