Trojans Fall to No. 1 Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The eighth-seeded Anderson men's basketball team wrapped up its season with a 90-62 setback to top-seeded and nationally top-ranked Lincoln Memorial in the quarterfinals of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament, Wednesday night at Tex Turner Arena.

Anderson fell to 10-19 on the year, while Lincoln Memorial improved to 28-1 overall and moves on to face No. 4-seeded Wingate in the tourney semifinals, Saturday afternoon in Greenville, S.C.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Juniors Gage Ellis and Randall Shaw shared team-high scoring honors with 12 points apiece and combined to go 10-for-17 from the field on the night. Senior Rakish Taylor and junior Jeremy Bouton added nine points apiece, with Bouton pulling down a team-high six rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Behind five points from Bouton, the Trojans jumped out to an early 7-2 advantage, but Lincoln Memorial countered with 12 unanswered points as part of a decisive 27-4 run over the next nine minutes that put the game out of reach.

The Railsplitters pushed out to a 48-17 advantage late in the first half and held a 50-19 lead at the break.

Second Half
The Trojans were 15-of-32 (46.9 percent) from the field over the final 20 minutes, but were unable to cut into the deficit, as Lincoln Memorial maintained the comfortable margin.

STAT OF THE NIGHT
The Trojans were 11-of-15 from the free throw line, while LMU was 6-of-10.
