Shaw Named AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. – After pouring in in a career-high 45 points to lead the Trojans to a road win over Brevard last Wednesday, sophomore guard Randall Shaw has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning.

He followed up with his first career double-double in Sunday's setback to Lenoir-Rhyne, posting 23 points against L-R, including 10 in a two-minute span late in the game and shared game-high rebounding honors with a career-high 11 boards.

Shaw's 45-point effort marked the seventh-highest single-game total in SAC history and eclipsed former Trojan standout Chandler Hash's 44 points in a 2014 SAC Tournament semifinal win over Coker and was the most for an AU player since Denzail Jones poured in 50 points in a 113-106 double overtime win over Newberry in the 2012 SAC Tournament semifinals.

The Greenville, S.C., native scored 26 of his career-best effort in the opening half at Brevard, while going 17-of-21 from the field on the night, including 8-of-10 from beyond the arc. The 6-foot-3 sophomore also shared game-high rebounding honors with eight boards.

The weekly honor is the first for Shaw and the second for a Trojan men's basketball player this season after freshman Christian Jeffords captured the accolade in mid-December.

The Trojans will get back on the hardwood, Wednesday when preseason league favorite Lincoln Memorial invades the Abney Athletic Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
