Men’s Basketball Slips to Ninth in the Southeast Region

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Despite recording a pair of wins last week, the Anderson men's basketball team slipped one spot and is ranked ninth in the Southeast Region in the NCAA's third Division II Southeast Region rankings of the season, as released Wednesday.

Anderson, which is seeded second in this week's South Atlantic Conference Tournament, is one of three teams from the SAC in the regional rankings.

The top three teams in the rankings remained steady, with Lincoln Memorial, USC Aiken and Barton all staying one, two and three, respectively.

UNC Pembroke climbed two spots to fourth, while Limestone slipped from fourth to fifth. King College (Tenn.) continued to slide, dropping from fifth to sixth.

Wingate remained seventh, while Montevallo, the defending Southeast Region champion, moved back to eighth from ninth. The Trojans slipped from eighth to ninth, while Belmont Abbey moved back into the top-ten at No. 10. Carson-Newman dropped out of the 10th spot.

The NCAA D-II Tournament selections are scheduled to be unveiled on Sunday at 10:30 p.m. at www.ncaa.com.

Eight teams from each of the eight regions will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament. In the Southeast Region, the tournament champions from the SAC, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid, with five more at-large selections.
