Men's Basketball Seeded 5th in Southeast Region

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Trojans' men's basketball team has been seeded fifth in the NCAA's Southeast Region and will face fourth-seeded Catawba Saturday at host Augusta State as announced by the NCAA selection Committee Sunday night. Saturday's contest will mark the first-ever appearance by Anderson in the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship, and the Trojans will square off against the Indians, who entered the South Atlantic Conference Tournament a the top seed, but were upset in the tourney championship by Brevard on Sunday afternoon. Catawba claimed the South Atlantic Conference regular-season title and finished the season with a 20-10 mark. Anderson wrapped up the regular season ranked six in the region and notched a record-setting 23-6 campaign heading into the NCAA Tournament, winning nine of its last 10 games and 10 of its last 12. Anderson is led by all-conference selection Brandon Young's 15.7 points per game average, while senior Tony Anderson adds 14.2 points per contest. Anderson has also handed out more than three assists a game this season and sophomore center Taylor Shugart is close to averaging a double-double with 8.2 points and nearly eight boards. The winner of Saturday's contest will advance to meet the winner of the No. 1 seed Augusta State/No. 8 seed Brevard game in Sunday's semifinal round.
