Royals Put Trojans on Two-Game Skid

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Reggie Hopkins scored 22 points to lead the Queens University of Charlotte to a 92-57 victory over Anderson University Saturday night at the Grady Cole Center in Charlotte. Queens (16-7 overall, 11-5 Conference Carolinas) slowly built up a 17-point lead in the first half. Anderson (10-14 overall, 8-9 Conference Carolinas) pulled within eight points midway through the first-half, but the Royals went into the locker room up, 45-28. Hopkins opened the second half with one of his four 3-point baskets. The Trojans tried to mount a comeback holding the Royals scoreless for close to three minutes cutting the deficit to 15 with 13:04 remaining. John Thompson's field goal was the first basket in a 12-0 run by Queens to open the lead to 24 -- 71-47. Queens shot 54.7 percent from the floor and limited Anderson to 36.2. In addition to Hopkins' 22, Stephen Bailey and Thompson had 17 points apiece. On defense, the Royals had 12 steals. Bryan Erce and Bailey each had three.
