NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Anderson University baseball team wrapped up a three-game South Atlantic Conference series by dropping a doubleheader at No. 22 Newberry, 9-4 and 6-2, Saturday afternoon at the Wolves' Smith Road Complex.
Anderson fell to 11-19 overall and 2-10 in the conference, while Newberry improved to 27-7 and 11-1 with its 19th straight home win of the season. The Wolves have won seven straight and nine of their last 10 decisions.

Game #1
Newberry 9, Anderson 4
Redshirt sophomore Chandler Castleberry notched one of the Trojans' three singles in the opener and also reached on a seventh-inning walk. Senior Jackson Strange was 1-for-4, with a single and also drove in a run, while freshman Jacon Kohns added an RBI-single in the ninth inning. Sophomore Tyler Berry and junior Matthew Overton each drove in a run.
Senior right-hander Will Gee (2-4) took the loss after allowing seven runs on 11 hits in six innings on the mound. He struck out two and walked one.
Game #2
Newberry 6, Anderson 2
Sophomore Trevor Weisner was 2-for-3 in the nightcap, with a pair of singles and was also hit by a pitch in the seventh. Redshirt junior Joseph Strange added a one-out double in the sixth inning and sophomore Will O'Brien notched a single in the second frame and was also hit by a pitch in the seventh inning.
Freshman Lucas Smith (0-1) absorbed the setback after surrendering four runs on five hits in 2 2/3 innings. The right-hander struck out two Wolves and walked two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
Newberry claimed an early lead with a solo run in the bottom of the first innings and added another run in the fourth to take a 2-0 advantage, before posting a four-run fifth inning and building a 9-0 lead with one in the sixth and two more in the seventh.
The Trojans took advantage of a lead-off single by Jackson Strange in the eighth inning, with the Greenville, S.C., native later scoring on a wild pitch. AU capitalized on four walks and a single to push across three runs in the top of the ninth to set the final score.
Game 2
The Wolves posted three runs in the second frame and added another one in the third to build a 4-0 advantage, before the Trojans got on the scoreboard in the sixth. Castleberry led off with a single and scored when Joseph Strange laced a double to left-center with one out.
Newberry countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth before the Trojans added another solo run in the ninth.
NOTABLES
• Redshirt sophomore Cameron Hall tossed 2 1/3 innings of relief in the nightcap. The right-hander did not allow a hit or walk a batter in his 11th relief appearance of the season.
• Chandler Castleberry extended his hitting streak to five games.
• Will Lindsey has reached base safely in his last 16 consecutive games.
