Trojans Fall to North Greenville in Weekday Matchup

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson baseball team dropped an 18-4 nonconference decision to North Greenville, Tuesday night at Memorial Stadium.

Anderson slipped to 8-9 on the season, while North Greenville improved to 12-6.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Freshman Logan Jackson was 2-for-3 at the plate, with a pair of singles. The Hendersonville, N.C., native also reached on a walk. Sophomore Dalton Shaw also added a pair of singles and a walk, with junior Daniel Blazejewski notching two singles. Senior Jackson Strange belted a two-run homer in the first inning and also reached on a sixth-inning walk.

Senior Stetson Scott (1-2) absorbed the loss after allowing seven runs on seven hits in 1 2/3 innings on the mound. The right-hander issued one free pass.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead by scoring a pair of runs with two outs in the top of the first inning, while Strange answered for AU by slamming his first homer of the season, a two-run shot, well beyond the fence in left field to knot the score at 2-2 after an inning.

But North Greenville posted crooked numbers on the scoreboard in each of the next four innings to build a 14-2 advantage after five innings.

Strange drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth for AU's third run of the contest, with NGU notching two more in the seventh inning.

Freshman Jack Fassino was hit by a pitch in the seventh and crossed the plate when Blazejewski singled to center and the Crusader defense threw the ball away.

North Greenville added two more runs in the top of the ninth to round out the scoring.
